Levi Roots – The man!
Mr. ‘Reggae Reggae Sauce’ is back!
The charming, the amazing, the talented Levi Roots will be back in Malton this year! Cooking live on stage and rocking Malton with a live concert at the Street Food party on the Saturday night, Levi will also take part in the NFU kitchen question time.
Levi who rose to fame as the successful entrepreneur of the famous “Reggae Reggae Sauce” brand is a renowned cook and musician. He brings both talents to Malton Food Lovers Festival this year!
Levi Roots’ Reggae Reggae Cookbook was published in 2008. The book has chapters on Roots’ story of coming to London and an introduction to Caribbean ingredients.
Roots had a television cooking show, Caribbean Food Made Easy, on BBC2, with a book of the same name published in August 2009.
Prue Leith – Cookery Legend
The Lady of the moment!
Prue will be book signing her newest novel and appearing on the NFU kitchen question time. Malton is incredibly excited to welcome back the brilliant Prue Leith, restaurateur, caterer, television presenter/broadcaster, journalist, cookery writer and novelist.
In 1969, Prue opened Leith’s, her Michelin starred restaurant. In 1975 she founded Leiths School of Food and Wine which trains professional chefs and amateur cooks. Prue has just been announced to replace Mary Berry as the judge on the famous Great British Bake Off!
She has been a food columnist for the Daily Mail, Sunday Express, The Guardian and the Daily Mirror. Aside from cookery books, including Leith’s Cookery Bible, she has written seven novels. Her memoir, Relish, was published in 2012.
Richard Burr – Builder and Baker!
Great British Bake Off finalist hits Malton!
Richard Burr will be cooking live in the chefs demo theatre! He says,
“I’m a fourth generation builder from North London, specialising in bricklaying and plastering. Married to Sarah and proud dad of three lovely daughters.
I somehow found myself a finalist on 2014’s Great British Bake Off, earning a record five ‘Star Baker’ awards in the process. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish that has taught me so much and introduced me to some lifelong friends. I blog weekly, sharing some of my favourite things to bake and keeping you posted on what I’m up to.”
Richard will be appearing at Malton Food Lovers Festival for the first time!
Sue Nelson – Yorkshire Food Finder!
Sue Nelson is an accomplished home cook and runs the amazing ‘Yorkshire Food Finder’ taking visitors on foodie trips around Yorkshire.
In devising her guided food trails, Sue has built up an amazing network of producers and chefs.
Her knowledge of what they’re up to is vast but she also knows how to use their stuff too, as happy in a bespoke kitchen as in a field doing a demo.
Sue will be compering the Inntravel Cookery Theatre and doing demos, interviews and cookery lessons of her own throughout the weekend! Malton Food Lovers Festival is proud to have her!
Steph Moon – Yorkshire festival favourite
A Yorkshire farmer’s daughter, Steph trained at Craven College, Skipton where she won a work experience placement at London’s renowned hotel ‘The Dorchester’. Steph is a Malton favourite and has appeared many times!
Jonathan Batchelor – A man who knows his fish!
Managing Director of top seafood specialists Ramus Seafood Emporium is a husband, father and foodie with a passion for all things fish related. He has over 20 years experience working for Ramus, which celebrated its 40th year in 2014 with the launch of its own cookbook FORTY. He strongly believes in the future of fish in the UK which has inspired him to build partnerships with day boat fishermen from the East Coast & South West to ensure that the best variety & quality of seafood is always available to his Yorkshire customers.
