Rosemary Shrager – Irrepressible & Irresistible!
Rosemary Shrager returns to Malton for the 2016 festival fresh from starring in ‘The Real Exotic Marigold Hotel’.
Rosemary is best known for being the haute cuisine teacher on the reality television programme Ladette to Lady, and as a judge on Soapstar Superchef. She also made an appearance on the reality TV show ‘I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Outta Here!’.
Other television projects have included Kitchen Showdown with Rosemary Shrager, where she weaned unhealthy fast-food families onto nutritious cuisine.

James Mackenzie – Michelin Star Man!
James Mackenzie, Michelin starred chef and general Yorkshire hero is another Malton Food Festival favourite who has supported the festival from the very beginning. We are thrilled to welcome him back!
James, along with wife Kate, took over the now Michelin-starred Pipe and Glass at South Dalton, 20 miles south of Malton in 2006 and they have seen it go from success to success.
The Pipe and Glass Inn is now the only Michelin starred restaurant in East Yorkshire and recently came second in the top 50 UK gastropub awards!
Rose Prince – Telegraph Food Writer
Malton is incredibly excited to welcome Rose Prince, a food writer of great renown to the 2016 festival.
As well as her weekly column in the Daily Telegraph she contributes regularly to BBC Radio 4’s Food Programme and was a judge for its Food and Farming Awards in 2009.
Rose is a prolific writer and contributes to the Daily Mail, the Spectator, The Times and the Sunday Telegraph. For three years Rose also had a column on the Daily Express. In 2000 Rose produced a two-part biopic about the food writer, Elizabeth David for British broadcaster Channel 4 which also aired in Australia.
Rose was the winner of a Glenfiddich award in 2001 and in 2009 was named by Vogue magazine as one of the most inspirational women in Britain
Sue Nelson – Yorkshire Food Finder!
Sue Nelson is an accomplished home cook and runs the amazing ‘Yorkshire Food Finder’ taking visitors on foodie trips around Yorkshire.
In devising her guided food trails, Sue has built up an amazing network of producers and chefs.
Her knowledge of what they’re up to is vast but she also knows how to use their stuff too, as happy in a bespoke kitchen as in a field doing a demo.
Sue will be compering the Inntravel Cookery Theatre and doing demos, interviews and cookery lessons of her own throughout the weekend! Malton Food Lovers Festival is proud to have her!
Steph Moon – Yorkshire festival favourite
A Yorkshire farmer’s daughter, Steph trained at Craven College, Skipton where she won a work experience placement at London’s renowned hotel ‘The Dorchester’. Steph is a Malton favourite and has appeared many times!
Nigel Brown – award winner!
Yorkshire born and bred Nigel spent time at the highly acclaimed French cookery school Ecole Le Notre practicing specialist patisserie work.
He’s produced a set of cookery DVDs, opened a cookery academy that’s said to be Lincolnshire’s finest cookery school and within in 8 weeks of being published Nigel’s first cookbook. Hi book ‘HOW TO COOK’ won an award in the GOURMAND WORLD COOKBOOK AWARDS, winning the prestigious title of Best Cookery School Cookbook in the UK 2016.
Xochi Balfour – healthy mind, healthy body!
Xochi is a wellness and holistic author based in London exploring what it means to live a balanced, healthy, happy life in the whirlwind of the twenty first century.
Her new cook book ‘Naturalista’ is a journey to discover more about the healing powers of nature, ourselves and the three pillars of vitality that keep us nourished inside and out: nutrition, natural beauty and mindfulness.
Yves Quemerais, A French master of gastronomy!
The French Chef at Home, Yves Quemerais, is classically trained under acclaimed chef Alain Ducasse. His cooking combines the traditional gourmet flavours of France with seasonal fresh Yorkshire produce. Yves made his home in Yorkshire after falling in love with ‘God’s own county’ during family holidays. He set up French Chef at Home to create authentic and bespoke French cuisine at people’s homes for special occasions, corporate events or just a luxury night in. Yves also offers tutorials in your own home for between one and four people.
Jonathan Batchelor – A man who knows his fish!
Managing Director of top seafood specialists Ramus Seafood Emporium is a husband, father and foodie with a passion for all things fish related. He has over 20 years experience working for Ramus, which celebrated its 40th year in 2014 with the launch of its own cookbook FORTY. He strongly believes in the future of fish in the UK which has inspired him to build partnerships with day boat fishermen from the East Coast & South West to ensure that the best variety & quality of seafood is always available to his Yorkshire customers.
