Malton Monthly Food Market makes a welcome return on Saturday 14th March with a MasterChef finalist and to the musical chords of Cajun and Zyedeco dancing!
The market will take place during the fourth annual Yorkshire Cajun and Zydeco Festival, which will be held on Friday 13th, Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th March in the Milton Rooms, Malton.
The market, which trades from 9am to 3pm, will boast over 35 food and drink stalls and will be an al-fresco affair with the stalls and cookery theatre placed outside the Milton Rooms. The outdoor cookery theatre will be placed in Pearson and Ward’s car park, with Masterchef’s Saira Hamilton and Cajun chef Janice Appleton doing the cookery demos.
Glyn Roberts of the Cajun Festival said: “The festival is now recognised in the UK and across Europe as one of the leading one of its kind outside the USA. It will feature music, dancing and food from the bayous and prairies of South West Louisiana with a Mardi Gras theme, so it will be an exciting and visually stunning event. There will be a parade of Mardi Gras costumes and masks through the Market Place during the food market.
“Joining forces with Malton Monthly Food Market means the food aspect of the festival can really come into focus. Janice, who has visited Louisiana recently, will show Cajun and Creole food at its best.”
