Malton Food Lovers Festival has just announced that BBC chef Valentine Warner and food legend Prue Leith are the first 2015 Partons! Both will be attending the festival in May.
Valentine Warner grew up on a farm in Dorset, learning to fish, shoot and cook from a young age. He studied an art foundation course in Bath before heading to London to train as a portrait painter at the Byam Shaw School of Art. Valentine enjoyed a “reasonably successful” career as a painter, but, at 23, couldn’t resist the call of the kitchen and decided to focus his time on cooking instead of painting.
Valentine’s take on robust seasonal cooking is what he calls ‘international grandmother’ food, the type you find in farmhouses, on dinner tables across the world when families sit down to eat a meal.
Prue Leith is most famous for setting up Leith’s School of Food and Wine in 1975 which trains both amateur and professional chefs. In her long and varied career she’s run and eponymous Michelin starred restaurant, headed up the School Food Trust, been a food columnist for national newspapers, written 5 novels, won the Verve Cliquot Business Woman of the Year, and most recently appears as a judge on the BBC’s Great British Menu.
